Tda1540p Nos Dac

Unfortunately my philips cd player has DIED (
So i decided to build a dac from it )?
one thing is not absolutely defineble - how to connect
2 tda1540p to cs8416
I dont want to use tda7000 or tda7300 in signal path (
So it is possible to connect cs8416 24 bit i2s out and tda1540 directly?
I think TDA1540P is worth such brainfuck ; )

I appreciate that there is a need for logic circuitry between the CS8414 and TDA1540P in order to separate L/R channels, not a problem, my question relates purely to whether a 14 bit DAC can accept a 16 bit signal.

Tim.

The MSB goes into the shift register first. If you clock it into the register with 16 pulses, the two most significant bits will overflow. But if you clock in with 14 pulses, starting at bit 3 and stopping at bit 16, the two least significant bits will not be shifted in and you will be alright. Best if you have a look at the SAA7000 timing diagram (Fig. 5). It is easy to do NOS with SAA7000, bypassing the SAA7030.
