any experience with the W6-1139SG as a sub???
im looking for a 6½" unit that can be used for lower frequence only in a 3 way speaker

I'm experimenting with a W6-1139SC for a "subwoofer". I don't have anything usuable at the moment because i'm working on a linkwitz circuit for it.
I'm really not expecting too much, but it's going into a small room.
I guess this is kind of a useless post. One other speaker I looked at was the Adire Extremis. It's quite a bit more expensive, but from the specs it looks like it would have significantly more kick.

I have it in a 3.5 way for my bedroom speakers. Fine little unit for the price but it needs the plate amp to keep up. Any room 150 feet or less it's ok for. Oh, forgot to mention it's with an 8" PR so the extension is pretty decent.
How are you planning to use it?

I have a pair I bought to fool around with. I put both of them in a single 1ft^3 vented box tuned to I believe 35hz. They sound good, but I don;t have an amplifier in my room to give them what they need. I hooked them up to 200watts in my car and they sounded pretty good, but couldn't give me quite what I was hoping for. My comparison is to my ported Elemental Designs 13kv.2. Speaking of Elemental Designs they have a new 6.5" subwoofer out for $50 each. I like my 13kv.2 a lot, but I'm not sure I like their new speakers the EU700 here but they don't have any specs and they say it can go really low, but nothing makes me believe they can go lower than the TB w6 or the Extremis. The thing I do like about them is their power handlling. With most of my speakers I like efficiency and little power, but with subwoofers I like lots of power. I'v been meaning to put them back into my car and rewire them to get 400wrms, but right now I've got a ton on my plate. Overall, from my small listening tests with them, the sound quality is great, but don't expect them to give you the punch of a larger driver. I did run some test tones through these when I had them hooked up and they seemed to play down to 35hz without much difficulty.
Good Luck,
Josh

Funny you should mention that. Here is the 740C (740E not available to me) with two PR on the left, and the front of the cabinet on the right
EDIT: It's good choice to step up in size. There is quite a difference in the sound of the two units. You will be much happier with the 8.

looks nice.. more pics of the speaker??
is it fast enough for music??
The speakers are a departure from the norm. After trying to please others in the past, I decided to build one for me and my ears. On the tester, they look like crud but they sound really sweet to me. Mind you, these are really only for five watts or less. Beyond that, I use the 15" coax and 15" powered woof pictured here.

About these W6-1139SG or a bigger brother: What if the W6és where used in pairs in a 40 liter vented box tuned to about 25Hz ?
Any comments ?

I've used these in a two-way system and my experience with them was very good. They can squeeze out very deep bass from small cabinets. Problem is just tuning them low enough, as the mid-Q design kind of requires Fb to be a fair bit below Fs.
Oh yeah, here's some info on what I did with them: http://attlid.eu/bellicose/
