Tannoy alternatives

I know of several who have had it done.
The hard (er) edged surrounds (Reds Golds) take a while to break in, and you get your full bass level back.

I have re-edged Tannoy HPDs using the same cones as they were in very good condition. That was with the correct foam surround kits.

I know of one pair of HPDs that received a harder edge refit. Not sure about that though, as those cones were designed differently with spiders to reduce cone break up at higher volumes. Adding a hard edge as well?

As long as you use genuine reconing kits, should not be a problem or change in sound.

university UC-153s should be on this list. I have a pair of 15" UC-153s and they remind me of my old hpds.

The uc153s sound better off axis for the highs and mids. Im not sure but i might prefer the uc153s...

Im surprised theyre not more well known.
