Sorry for the wait, here's the schematic of T185 Dorset crossover

I copied that by hand from the original print. I checked it and re-checked it, so I'm just about 100% certain that it's accurate. I wish I could find that original print...

somethings fishy there

my xover schm is from 1004 xover also , PC Board 6620 0004/30

I have no doubt that you had your schm from Tannoy - but it seems to me that that day someone in office had a shot of two - more than usual :clown:

first puzzle is - 0,38mH in front of tweet ?

anyway - it doesn't matter to me , I'm just interested in another box for 2528 , will do my own xover from scratch

I would stick to refurbishing the original crossovers as they perform some important eq functions ie a 6dB/0ct 'boost' and a driver specific notch filter.
Keep hold of the original autoformer which is at the heart of it as there are no replacements available unless you have them custom-wound at some expense.

In that case you're good to go I suspect.

Though I'd look for more juicy amps as Tannoys love current… lots of it.
From what I hear even DMT215s (101dB/1W/1m) sound a lot better driven with a 500w ss than with low powered amps. Headroom is your best friend here.

tnx GM

drive - this time no tubes , so - any 10-20W usual FW with DF no less than 10

box type - either MLTL or BLH , but not bigger than 35x40x220cm (BxDxH)

You’re welcome!

Hmm, ~12” x 14.25” x 85” i.d. = 8.41 ft^3 net and the way I calculate a MLTL it’s only ~31” i.d. tall, so to get it up to 85” requires a theoretical ~9.5 Hz tuning with the driver ~55.5” i.d. + material thickness off the floor since CSA is too small to fold it up.

I guess what you have already come up with experimentally in MathCad is the best that can be expected of such a high aspect ratio cab for a low Qt driver, but it doesn’t look too promising except possibly with more stuffing, though of course no way to know for sure without building one, so looking forward to a review.

You're welcome, not that I was much help.

Ugh! Back pains, the story of my life........ 🙂

Well, the rule-of-thumb I use to check viability called for needing up to ~24 ft^3 for loading to Fs and half that for loading to ~1.56x Fs [~42 Hz], but still tuned to Fs, so didn't pursue it. IME, once it's shrunk any more, a MLTL is the better choice overall.
