Tangband W3-871S Horn Loading?

Any one think it would be possible to make horn loading boxes for these? Possibly boxes that are about fifteen inches tall tops?

I have a small confined desk in college and rear horn loading is the only way I can think of to get a little more bass, and feel more comfortable about possibily using an 8wRMS tube amplifier.

perhaps the reason you haven't got a reply yet is that bass horn loading is not suitable for 'small' projects, because it is not only dependent on horn length, but on the size of the mouth (open end) of the horn. What you will have instead is an expanding unstuffed transmission line. Take a look at the existing designs for the 871, including the Cyburgs-Needle.

With these drivers, you can get good sound and down close to 50Hz with a proper BSC, but it only tests that low at 1W. Louder, the driver cannot push enough air to get good low frequency. If you select one with Xmax over +/-1mm or more, a desktop can present good bass with a rear loaded horn. Something around 2.5 l and a short horn which really just focuses the low end energy could give you nice results. It almost operates like a base reflex with a horn shaped tube.
