If I were to use one of the TB 3" 15 watt drivers with a passive 2nd order highpass from 350Hz and up, what kind of power handling can I expect? I guess what I'm wondering is if the power handling is purely thermal, or if they are mechanically limited by the small Xmax. Anyone have any experience with this?
it will be more thermal as above 300Hz excursions are not so essential. think 30W rms is what you'll get.
I understand at that frequency the excursion is not very large. What I'm wondering about is whether the 15/30W power rating is given because they can't handle the excursion produced, or is it purely thermal dissipation.
How do they rate power anyway? Is it measured with a sine, and at what frequency? Or, is it measured with white noise? Anyone know what the standard is?

there are few standards i know of. some places they rate power as PMPO. what that means in RMS/ch (20-20k) terms I have yet to find out.
