hi all,
I'm planning to (finally) build some loudspeakers myself. After reading a lot of forums & thread's i've decided on the tangband w3-871S because they're cheap (important, being a student and for a first diy thing), i don't really need party-level music and they get pretty nice reviews.
a simple question to you (two actually) who are not loudspeaker-diy-first-timers:
If i were to hook up 2 drivers in one box, how would i do that? Can I just wire them parallel (which would theoretically give me a 4 ohm speaker)? And how would i do this for 4 drivers?
Second question: how to calculate the required box volume for a one-way two driver closed box enclosure? volume for one driver * 2 ? (ang again, how about 4 drivers?)
Thanks,
Matthijs

Aaah, easy questions. 🙂
The wiring can be done however you want. I'd reccommend wiring two drivers in parallel, the other two drivers in parallel, and then those two pairs in series. Final load = 8 ohms.
As for the box, it's probably just number of drivers * one-driver ideal volume. You should check this with WinISD to be sure.
Good luck!

Hi Matthijs,
have you seen this thread some entries down? Seems to be exactly what you need:

Yep, that's right.
Here's what I did.

i see. seems to be easy enough for me. Only thing is you made a vented enclosure and i want to have a closed box.
volume for 1 driver * number of drivers = multiple-driver-in-a-box-volume ? Too easy ...
