Thanks for the info Jan. Love reading your articles in AudioXpress! Incidentally I heard that the diodes used in Sony VFET amps are not reliable. When they fail, destruction of output devices may result. Just purchased a TAN-5550. As far as I know, unlike TAN7, this doesn't use BJTs to 'share' the line voltage at the outputs. I'm somewhat apprehensive to plug it in..... I could check the output devices first. Do you have any info or schematic on this? Would like to see how the VFETs are biased before 'taking the plunge'! Would appreciate any info. Thanks. Mark. 😉
