Those darn Chinese take the fun out of DIY. But this is very impressive, not only the size but the price. This is the greatest thing since the USB powered USB extender I bought a few years ago (repeater.)

I have some of them at home. A PITA to solder but pretty good boards considering their price and size. You can easily drive speakers to reasonably high levels.

It can take 5V, 5.5V absolute max. Or do you mean 3W?

But how does it sound (on good quality speakers or even a sensitive single full range) ?

I meant on the output. 1.4 watts gives 1% THD into 8 Ohms. So about 3 volts output when running on a 5V power supply. THD @ 1 watt (2.83) is given as 0.15%.

Basically it can get to about 1V under the supply voltage before it clips.

These 3w amps are what is used to drive many of the portable egg shaped mp3 and Bluetooth speakers out there. Thy sound decent but distort when cranked up to 3 watts.
