Trying to build a switchmode charger from schematics would be nearly impossible, expensive, and dangerous. I’ve worked on them and have designed switchmode power supplies and I assure you, it’s a vast undertaking and is only efficient in production volumes. Even a switchmode power supply is tough, but once you add battery-sense circuitry, current limiting, polarity protection, etc. it gets much worse.
Go to www.batterymart.com or check out eBay and you should find a number of units in the $25 to $60 range plus international shipping.
Unless you are extremely technically savvy, have a need for something exotic and money is no object, or are working on a corporate project, I’d seriously avoid it.
