I’m collecting phono amp projects and want to build them into a single case. I’m hoping this 4 way, 6 pole switch allow me to simultaneously switch input and output of 6 preamps.
Blore Edwards 4 pole 6 way selector switch, OPXR-1055-02 | Hifi Collective
Have I understood correctly?

4way is the number of lines that can be selected and 6pole means six connections.
The signal line is switched, not the ground so a 6way 2pole will allow you to select any one of 6 preamps.
CK1030 | Lorlin, 6 Position DP Rotary Switch, 150 mA@ 250 V ac, Solder Tab | RS Components
this switch can be set for up to 6 positions.

Presumably these are stereo preamplifiers, so you need four rather than two poles if you simultaneously want to switch the inputs and the outputs. Besides, you need gold-plated rather than silver-plated contacts to reliably switch very-low-level signals. Silver contacts will work fine for a few months and then start to produce cracking sounds, which you can usually get rid of by switching back and forth a few times.

If you switch the inputs at the same time, be sure to mute the outputs during the switching.

Thanks. That is what I had deduced from reading up on rotary switches but have had conflicting info.

Thanks for the heads up. Could I turn the output on the main preamp down for this? That’s my default when I change source now anyway.
