Hi.
I see that TDA 1541A S1's are selling for about £200 each or so (£250 on EBAY) would anybody like to swap the 4 VFETs for a S1?
(I would provide the S1) I'm prepared to make a financial contribution if people think that balance too unreasonable. Please send a PM for further information.
All the best.
PS I know they are both genuine, but you can choose whatever one you like.
PPS I also have a TAIWAN chip if you'd rather.

I find Ebay can be missleading with sold listings indicating sold for the BIN price when in reality they are sold for best offer. From what I can see the last one that went for bids went to around £140. Ebay attract a big audience so things can go for better prices there than places like here. I did see someone selling a completed DIY VFET amp on EBay, as I recall located in Nottingham; maybe thats too expensive but with all the bits and work done already it didn't seem too bad.
It seems much simpler to sell your S1 on Ebay and then look for someone selling VFETs at a really great price.
Wasn't money invented for just such eventualities? 😎

That's your view, they have actually both come out of Arcam Delta 70.2 CD Players.Don't mean to sound nasty but your S1s looks very suspicous

I see, so, one has to do the same thing all the time, does that mean that we all have to buy ready made high street audio products, or all have (if allowed to) build the same DIY audio stuff?

So, is this a contest now?
That's your view, if you know anything about the TDA-1541 chips you'll know that many were remarked after retest, they were actually both bought as spares for Arcam Delta products from that company. As a point of note, people here would be far more likely to know a fake than people on EBay in my view. Ebay buyers include more of the "general public" and in fact pay far more for things. This was proven to me as when I sold a pair of TDA1541A S2's some time ago (bought as spares for a Marantz CD7), the max people offered here was far less (some being quite insulting) than the price I got on EBay.
I passed on some Russian VFETS 926A here (I seem to remember) at cost to me to help others out, and even gave a spare one FOC..
I have given free (even including shipping) a couple of new old stock Sanyo SF-P101N CD Player mech (I still have a few more) and drawer assemblies to a guy in the states on the understanding he would confirm they were good, only never to hear back from him.
I've changed that mindset now as when I sold two unused Pass VFET kits at cost, (as one should) (and after much nasty emailing from one other member) one was built by the purchaser, and the other has been sold as bits by the other guy it would seem, at something like 4 times what he bought it for from me. This guy (I won't mention who it is) seems universally liked, so I thought I'm a fool.
These things have coloured my view of offering sales here, so I no longer see the point of doing myself down for some who want to take advantage. I listed the S1's after seeing people asking for them repeatedly, I don't need the money, so asked for what I do need but seems hard to obtain. (You will see that my original offer also included the option of me adding cash if required).
Sumotan, I really have no problem with you posting what may be helpful to other members, as we all know there are lots of fake TDA's out there. Better safe than sorry. Personally I prefer the TaiWan chip, as it is far more detailed, and if matched with suitable upstream gear works well. Best wishes.

Anyway, I've decided to withdrawer this offer, as I'd rather not be a cause for any doubt whatsoever. If anybody has a spare set of the VFETs and would wish to part with them, please PM me.
Best wishes to all.
Best wishes to all.
For what it's worth, i've seen such stamping on a phillips cd880 player, first owner. As far as i can see here, it seems fairly legit.
For those who may wish to buy a S1 chip, here's a seller who seems to have a few. (see picture below). This is his feedback.

You will notice that his chip is the same date code, and of similar marking to one of mine, which I know I've had for more than 15 years. OK, I suppose that all of his previous buyers could have possibly been duped, but I would assume that at least a few when spending that sort of money would have known what they were doing and the range of other CD parts he's selling lends credance to his lagitamacy..
