Quick survey...

I've been looking into the possibility of getting a quantity of Chinese TFT XGA VGA/AV (input) panels without enclosures or backlights. All of the required circuitry is supplied. It is required of the manufacturer that all of the circuitry be out of the light path as well.

The other specs:

500:1 minimum
20 ms response minimum
true XGA
VGA and AV inputs

The target price for these is $250/piece

Who's interested?

Cheers..

Honestly It wpould have to be ess then 250.00 beacue we can buy panels like that here in the usa( Online) that have the same or better specs and if they have dead pixles etc we can take em and return them.( yes I know manufacturers have a " dead pixle minimum" But honestly all you would have to say is" Its not large enough for me or not to my liking" anyway It would be cool if you could get them but since there is less work involved in puting them togeather I dont think 250.00 is all that great of a deal...........Just my thoughts.

could be cheaper, don't know yet

I just dropped $240 for a monitor of the same specs (cheap!!)...I didn't know what I was getting at all (ffc nightmare)..I just got lucky. If there is a panel that does VGA and AV inputs (+TV tuner) with these specs (500:1, 15ms) in this country I would sure love to know about it.

As it stands I'm out another $69 for the 'line doubler' and AV inputs. that makes my total $310. Maybe I'm a purist but I consider the case, backlight and disassembly to be a liabilty, not a bonus.

Also let's assume that the panels are warranted against defective pixels ok?

$250 for an lcd with good specs, with vga and av inputs, also don’t have to worry about cables and no work involved to take the thing apart sounds like a great deal to me. Especially for us newb’s. I would love to buy one! If you are able to order them how long will it be, before you will be selling them?

Why 15", Why Not Smaller and 16:9

I will say if you are going to Chinease Manugacturer then go for something which is used in ASK projectors and rest all as you said. 15" is too big to impress else that you are doing serious work.

Not Only LCD the Whole Stuff Can be OutContracted.

It might take the thunder out of this whole process but, once can get enclosures which have flexibility of providing different off theshelf lamps and then for zooming etc. Basically make some the manufacturer to give all components which can be vaired according to individual's needs.

Still it takes the kick out of it but it does add more kick to it because you might be able to beat even professional projectors.

well im interested, is this the 1515? what kind of tuner is it? does it have AV connections? svideo? and how much is for shipping.

for some strange reason they dont sell CMV 1515s anymore....damn thing is probably sold out...😕

anyway if everything is right then i would be more than interested in this monitor.

don't have all the details yet...

I just started sending form letters to manufacturers yesterday. I stipulated that the panels have the properties in my first post. There are barebones panels available in the states but not at this price point; they are usually ridiculously expensive (pay more for less?). 😕 You can find barebones panels on eBay for cheap, but then you have the nightmare of finding the driver boards, power supplies etc.

The reason I'm taking the survey is to establish if I could meet the minimum order, also unknown.

As soon as I hear anything I'll let ya'll know.

~cheers

I think that sounds like a pretty good option for me if you can get them for a reasonable price. It would have to be pretty close to what I would pay to buy one to strip down.

If you can get one pre stripped and with all the needed driver boards that also has specs similar to what you discribed then I think I want one too.

CB.
