Cooking- the way to a modern woman's heart- That's how I got mine!
A lot of 'em don't know how. If a guy gets into cooking, he probably does it because he wants to and enjoys it. A lot of people here are into cooking (we mods exchange recipes!
) I think because it's.....DIY!
My wife is a scientist- all day in the lab measuring and cooking up stuff- at the end of the day that's the last thing she wants to do more of!

Hmmm, I don't cook very well. My wife got sucked into the toys (audio) and my devious sense of humour. She wishes the cooking fairy would come to me.

Cooking to me is about a design, getting the parts, using the tools, and putting it all together... then there's testing, experimentation, revisions, upgrades.
Seems lately any project I get take 6 months or a year. Dinner is one project I can knock off in 6 hours tops.
'Sides... circuit boards don't taste so good.

Great ! I like this thread.

... in fact you can present your occupation in a more colorful way, or just as simple as possible. In the meantime I enjoy the second version more.
Cooking, yes that's always a plus.

Pretty hard stuff, such comments. Lucky me, -I never experienced
such brutal refusal.

Well... instead of engineer, you say "designer"... BJ does NOT mean bipolar junction... resist-her is something she hopes you can't do... induct-her is about the hall of fame she aspires to. It's all about words...
Second time arounders tend to be a bit more open minded. 😉
I got lucky that my boss thought enough of me to introduce us. I worried that the job might be in jeopardy if it didn't work out. Ended up changing jobs, but The relationship has been working out for nearly five years. 😀

poobah: There's a joke in there about why a bride smiles as she's walking down the aisle, but I'll resist telling it.
Cooking is how those of us who are not athletically talented, are poor, drive crummy cars, and hate to dance are still able to manage with women. In reality, my cooking and electronic design styles are quite similar- I have a rough idea of what I'm going to cook, but it's always changed and adapted when I see what looks good and what doesn't while shopping. Fortunately, the dishes I cook look much better than the amps and speakers I build.

I have created a cooking thread here:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72831
and split off the cooking posts
Post your recipes and comments about food there.

Hi All,
Stumbled on this thread only today. No wonder my wife says that I'm almost the dumbest person in the family.
I'm an Electrical Engineer(so is my wife), we carried on from college....Sure snared the smart one(now who's dumb???).
I was at first, running my own manufacturing unit - pcb, keyboards, membrane switches etc. Presently working in the Electrical Transmission & Distribution field. Boring job but provides the daily bread.
Rock and Heavy Metal Fanatic, started building speakers about 23 years ago to play my guitar, slowly progressed into HT thus far.
My wife bears with me and my DIY.

currently unemployed (initially by choice, now looking for work...)
Qualifications: degree in computer science and masters of internetworking.
I have a mechanical bent, have stripped down and rebuilt the engine on my morris 1100 a couple of times, love photography, and have been neglecting my diyaudio for the last 6 months (got to close to completing my project 😉 )
If anyone knows of any jobs in Sydney for a good all round IT guy who can handle pretty much anything thrown at him (preference towards unix/cisco LAN WAN/Security), let me know 🙂
Tony.
