The cabinet plays a big role in those characteristics.
OK, let me refrase: I hear more similarities between different cabinets with the same driver than similar cabinets with different drivers
those points are more driver related than enclosure related, so that's why i did not describe those. I would say at the same level as other W5-1611 systems, so very good
planet10
Originally posted by picowallspeaker said:What about focusing the image , depth of the scenario , absence of the speaker itself

Hi Picowallspeaker,
I tried a number of different length pipes of the heaviest weight/density possible, different placements of the driver along the length of the pipe (one was very similar to Henkjan's), with and without joining flanges at the bottom (to alter the bass character),different lengths of pvc before the bend, different diameter of the flanges around the driver.placing shaped objects (thereby changing the shape of the internal dimensions), porting the bottom and different amounts, placements and types of stuffing in places from silk wool to various synthetic wools available in Laos.(I even started to build a system from Japan that created a 1 or 2 horns on the inside of the pipe) I was looking for greater bass, as the detail and stage was more than adequate. I can only compare this system against my previous system, which included a lynx quasar amp, B and W 600's and the same Mac and DAC that I run now. And this is by far superior in detail, transparency and staging. So you maybe surprised what it sounds like, I think that the reality of speaker building is that you can use theile and small's parameters, but you should always keep trialling the result and getting them closer to your ideal. This means time (and probably money too). Isn't that a big part of why we think of crazy things like drivers in a pipe, and not just buy a something that some one markets as 'the best speakers ever' ?

I was in a hurry...searching for the usb camera cable,resizing...the picture actually is a fake , the tweeter cable (oh!awesome) being put there for fashion, the right box with no crossover." Man! That inductance sucks ,less than 1mm diameter , surely crappy bass"
The back panel is covered with a lead panel , I did put 5mm bitumen panels in the main chamber last summer though I didn't listen to them yet , but surely that treatment is a BIG improvement , like my ego raising with this thread . At least I'm on the way of finishing them.
Happens to be in The Fullrange Forum , well , the tweeter was added after I damaged 1 of the 2 original Pioneer speakers , 4 ohm , voice coil scratching , then received 2 RCF speakers , more massive magnet and construction (not to mention the foam instead of treated silk ) same 6 1/2 inches. They know how to make vibrating a 4 mm plastic box .The box is tightened by the two long metal barrels ,from bottom to top , and the second part of the horn ( ok : I didn't know exactly what was I doing , I had TL in mind but more attracted by horns ) is detachable using the common tube insertions . They are very light indeed ,only 4 pieces to move !
Connected to a 100 w mosfet amp i bought in Bangkok (they should have put fuses in it!) they did , and I hope will , ROCK!
