Hello all...
So this is my first post along with my first foray into this sort of thing. I'm gonna make a lot of you cringe when I say the reason I started looking into this is because I had an Aiwa NDS50U for the passed 13 years or so that finally bit the dust. Complete rubbish in comparison to the level of audio you guys are listening to but it served me well for a long time. But here we are 13 years later and my ears have grown up along with the rest of me. I tried searching for something that would be in a sub $100 price range but everything in the stores sounded like garbage to me. Then I stumbled on quite possibly the coolest forum ever. And here I am.
So introductions being out of the way here's what I was thinking...
I want to use the Yuan Jing Audio - ON SALE! - TPA3116 Class-D 2.0 Stereo Amplifier Board [50W+50W] - $19.99 blue-black 3116 board and a tuning board along with it. However I'm having some trouble understanding how these link together. Or more so I thought it was simply a matter of hooking the input into the tuning board and the output of the tuning board into the input of the amp and that was it. But as I search through your forums more and more I'm seeing so much jargon that I'm not familiar with and it's making me feel like it's just not that simple. Would I need to use a seperate power supply to power the tuning board and the amp? Or would a single 19.5v laptop power brick be sufficient for both?
I'm also having some difficulty figuring out which tuning board to purchase. I'm looking for a board that has 3 bands. high mid and low, and would love a recommendation based on your experiences. The issue is that I've noticed many of you saying a lot of these tuning boards are crap and add either noise to the system or muck up the sound in general. So I'm not sure if there are any options that do not negatively alter the sound.
ultimately I'd like to set up both boards in their stock forms so i have something reliable to listen to. Then purchase another board to modify it to be even better. I am fully aware that the second part will require far more research but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. For now any advice you could provide me with would be very much appreciated.
I also will probably have other questions and apologize ahead of time... 🙁
