If you still had Maplin's they might have a 1 meter RCA patchcord on the rack for less than £10.... cut it up. Ah, Maplin's is gone but you may have old cords in a drawer?

Yes, its OK... absolutely fine as a general screened hookup wire.
Another option is to buy phono leads and chop them up if you don't need much of the stuff. Do a search for 'RCA Cable' on the CPC site.

I don't need 100m, it was what was available (CPC have a £8 minimum spend).
I did cut the connector off the end of one of the freebie cables I had lying around but the 'screen' was just a few strands of copper parallel to the core, i.e. not wrapped around the inner insulator so not actually screening anything!
I'll have a mooch around and see if there's any more phono leads lying around then.
