I'm new with car audio. I already have a Sony Xplod subwoofer (dual coil 4+4 ohm) which has a rated output power 400W rms. I want to connect this sub with parallel 2 ohms. I don't know how great is the power-amp that can match this sub. One of the local car-audio installer told me that the output power (rms power) of the amplifier must be greater than the rated power of the sub. Is this correct? I don't know. Can anyone suggest the suitable output power of the amplifier for this sub? I just want the simple installation and I don't want to deal anything with the T/S parameters. Thanks.
Buy any momo amp that can do 800 watts into 2 ohms and you should be okay. Its' always better to have more power than not enough. It really matters on the type of music you listen to.
