Ok,....No wires loose, so no Aluminum wire fatigue or glue delam issues....My Tympani 1D's are always inside room with no direct UV exposure so Mylar film is 100% intact, no holes or tears.....Trying to establish if any build or repair dated > year 2005 Maggies have been found with any significant Aluminum VC wire Corrosion issues....Has anyone noticed any original or factory refurbished newer than yr 2005 Maggies with noticeable wire Corrosion ?
I think it will depend on the environmental conditions where the speakers are used. I wonder what Magnepan will tell if you ask them?
Thinking thru factory's continued use of waterbased top adhesive ....Sometimes a topping glue of similar bases will weaken/release cured base layer during top layer strength curing, & Everything pops loose !! ....In that regard, I can see why a dissimilar base (like water) would be attractive for efficient production line assembly....But Chlorinated--water based doesn't figure compatible with aluminum....Maybe the Thickest multi layers Various coatings enameled solid alum mag wire would hold off pitting corrosion significantly longer ?? ...A slight weight & some co$t penalty,...but deff worth it.......IS the careful home rewire overall Sonic results (detail, transparency, etc) anywhere good as Factory refurbished job ??
I am not sure the enameled wire is that sensitive to what adhesive is used. The wire itself has a colour that is not a pure aluminium. Maybe it is the colour of the enamel? Maybe the wire is copper clad?
