I think 6C33 and GM-70 are too much for this application.
My compression driver is very efficient. It has 125mm diaphragm.
Then go for a 300B
Someone also made the same suggestion. Then go for a 300B
He used 300B to drive his midbass compression driver as well.
My concern with 300B is that it is too expensive.
I like the sound quality of 45, 2A3, and 300B, basically any low-mu DHT with parallel plate construction.
You can never have too much power! You don't have to use it.
I would go with 300B or 2A3 for all sections. The important thing for the midbass is the damping factor, and 300B is best at it, with 2A3 very close. In fact, modern 2A3 and 300B is the same, just different voltage filaments.
If you need a lot of tubes, it is best to go for tubes that are still in production. Some NOS tubes are cheap today, but won't be in 10 years as inventory runs dry. You'll have to rebuild your amp for new tubes, with new and expensive output transformers. In 100 years, they will still be making 300B tubes.

You're using 45 and complaining about the price of a 300B?
Use 300B for all, or if you need much more power, use the GM70
To be fair... 45 is much cheaper than 300B. I agree with using 300B for all sections. The better 300B's sounds very similar to my 45's but deliver more power.
You can get decent 300B for $75. Are you selling your 45's?
No mention of just DHT so if you don't need that much power how about 6av5 triode connected. great bass, low anode resistence cheap (i just got another 8 for $3each), available and i'm getting better than dht distortion numbers out of them. Tubelab is the man with these imho.

I got a dozen NOS 45's for $90. You can't beat that price with 300B! I paid a fortune just for a pair of EML 300B.

I can offer you double for the 45'
If you want cheaper, there is EL34, 6550, KT88, etc. Russia has even more, but once inventory gets dry, the price will shoot up, leaving you with an amp/transformer without available tubes.
Palmas is right, the 2A3/300B tubes are cheap, the best sounding (IMHO), and will forever be made.

Any other suggestions on output tube for midbass ?
I was not joking before when I said GM70. Cheap and you can use then lower voltage, and still get great bass.
There are an amazing number of other options available, so many in fact I only suggested the obvious DHT.

Funy thing is most russian tubes will last almost forever, even if used everyday for a couple of hours.
If they are cheap, buy spares

- Suggestion: Output tube in SET amp for midbass frequency
