Congratulations for the good work, it looks pretty good. Someday I'll redo my sub woofer cabinet and make it look like yours!

As for the power supply, don't you think it could have been bigger regarding capacitance and the VA rating of the trafo? If I'm not mistaken this amp is driving an XLS + passive?

@ Kepa1

The Capacitor rating is 2* 100 000 uF - I thing more then enought

The Trafo has 700 VA ( the supply voltage is DC +- 70V and the amp is Bridged )

My first am was an AV400 from Holton - it was just toooo weak...

AND Yes your right it is The 12" XLS with Passive radiator

My bad eye, I saw 10 000 µF 😉

@ soongsc

I'm not verry good - in describing sound with words - I'll try

I heard / build manny subs

This is my favourit baby,

It sounds, deep, preassure-full, but also verry "correct" .....

The probelm at the Tripath is the Doubble layer pcb with manny vias.

further you need 2 "help voltages"

AND it produces manny EMI

But I'm verry happy with this amp

Wow, you managed to build the board from the data-sheets, that’s amazing. I believe you may get improved performance if you replace the copper bars by the mosfets with something with a lower inductance (a flat copper peace). At least that’s what they say in there data sheets. But I don’t know how much it would matter on a sub amp.

Have you tried this amp full range? You may want to, according to what people say this family of class-d chips sounds very nice.

Nice job tab30! The sub looks great. Did you design/make your own PCB for that Tripath chip? I'm sure you know the TA0104A was replaced by the TA0105A, so if you ever want to upgrade the chip you could just solder it in. I don't think you will though because I'm sure it sounds just fine for sub use.
