Matrix brace an 18mm mdf build on 200mm centres and there'll be no resonances in or near sub BW. A bonus is a sheet of BB is about $300 here vs $38 for 18mm mdf.
Oz is certainly a plywood wasteland. Here more like $40-50 for the MDF, $80-90 for the plywood (a step up from BB), and given that you end up needing something ike 2x the material if you use MDF< the price difference falls the other way.

Sure that's true, but I can still use lesser ply braced well and it performs the same, it's just mdf is easier to finish a lot of the time.Oz is certainly a plywood wasteland. As I have $6k in driver cost alone for an upcoming build of a not particularly large speaker (for me anyway) then the BB isn't a huge addition, I just don't see any particular performance advantage to using it.
Here's a few pics, the round shiny things are 4.5KG lumps of cast iron bolted to the driver magnet.Got a picture of those cracked?

The table top and the floor can be recruited as part of an open-baffle hidden under the table. Pay no attention to those simplified models for OB performance - works much better than that in real-world rooms, esp with some digital processing.
