What are the dimensions of the room and how loud do you like it? You might find that a budget speaker just won't cut it for HT. This is the problem I have with my 60 litre vented 12 inch with a fair bit of EQ. Admittedly I have it fairly loud and could cut down on the EQ a little, but I'm upgrading to 'proper' drive units now at over £100 each and using 2 of them. Not to mention the power required to drive them...

The room is approx 4.5m X 5.0m, but I live in a appartment so it can't be too loud anyway.

I don't mind spending between £120 & £180, but that is all my budget will allow.

As to powering them...... I already have 2 x 200W RMS amplifier modules from BK Electronics ready and waiting.

I have looked at the Peerless XLS 10", but I'm not to impressed with the resulting graphs in WinISD. :xeye:

As you already have an amp that should be just about OK then you should be able to do it with some half-decent drivers at least 🙂 Do not worry too much about what you saw in WinISD. I bet you modeled a sealed box which with these drivers with their low Qts will look terrible. Also, you will get some gain from the room if it does not have any open points, beginning around 344 / (5 x 2) = 34 Hz.

The XLS10 requires a small, assisted box -- which dictates a passive radiator -- to get the best out of it. Also look at the LAB12 BK has. Shiva is available in the UK at about £125 and Shadow Works and Nightfire are both nice companies.
