subwoofer build needs input board

Hi

I have a Monitor Audio 12" sub that has a blown amp so I have the box and a good speaker. I just bought a well priced IcePower 500ASP but I need the front end input board i.e. line inputs, volume, variable phase, variable low-pass etc. to go with it.

Is this a readily available unit that I can buy? Needs to be 240volt.

is there anything I have missed.

Thanks

You could use a DSP to handle those tasks. The Icepower 500ASP input isn't that sensitive so make sure that the DSP outputs a strong signal. The 500ASP outputs 63.5 Vp = 44.9 Vrms and has a gain of 27.1 dB = 22.6x, so it requires a voltage of 2.0 Vrms on its input. A Dayton DSP-408 or the t.racks DSP 4x4 Mini could do that.

Hi TBTL and thanks for your response. Great to know about the input voltage requirement.

It seems a bit of overkill to have a 4 in 8 out processor for this task. I was hoping there would be a 1 in 1 out version for a subwoofer. Maybe there is a circuit that I can build that covers the parameters I initially mentioned, though a DSP function would certainly be handy.

Ideally you would have the DSP also high pass filter your main channels, such it's not working hard trying to reproduce bass which the speakers cannot reproduce.

Those MA 12" subs ....

...great driver and cabinet but woefully poor build electronics...they all blow sooner or later.
Interestingly I have just removed the plate amp from mine, sealed the box and have a spare quality power amp to drive it.

After a bit of research I went with the ESP P48A controller as a means of integrating and controlling.
I have just an hour ago connected for first run and am totally surprised at how seamless and invisible the sub is...!

Worth reading the design ideas in the article on the original P48 controller....the MA sub appears to be an ideal candidate..
