Just checking before i buy, Ill be buying a dayton quatro 15" soon and im looking for a 250 watt amp. the 300-794 subwoofer amp by partsexpress is what I was previously considering but if there are any cheaper options(plate or non) I would like to know before I buy the partsexpress one. Alternately if anyone has any other better suggestions for around the same price range, those are welcome too. Also, is it worth the extra money to have a phase knob that allows multiple points of adjustment of the subwoofer phase as opposed to a phase switch?

thanks ahead of time

I hate to just point to another resource instead of answering your question, but in this particular case I think it is in your best interest. The article linked below is short, accurate, and will probably give you all the information you need regarding the phase switch part of your question. As for the amplifier part the plate amps from parts express are of good quality and (IMHO) reasonably priced.

hi, have you looked at the # 300-804 200 watt amp from PE.? i think i'm going to try that one . reading the review on it, it sounds like a pretty tough amp. i guess it depends on whether or not you can get by with 200 watts or, if you need the extra 50 watts far your particular project. good luck, crippledchicken

First off thanks for the replys, and the article was VERY helpful. I am aware of the 200 watt plate amp and it is VERY tempting considering it has the whole soft clipping thing and a rumble filter AND that its much harder to destroy. After some thought, the output from the 50 more watts will be quite neglageable, and what I gathered from the review of the partsexpress 200 watter was that it puts out a bit more than rated power. I think that the apex jr amp is out of the question as I would like the sub to get down to 25hz and be loud, and I don't think that the apex jr has that kind of power.
