Substitute LCD?

Hi, Inspired by Slize and others, I want to give a DIY projector a go.

I want to build the light engine and optics first before spending the big bucks on the screen/electronics.

In order to test the device would something like a test card printed on an OHP acetate be an adequate substitute to test focus, bright spots, keystone etc etc?

Cheers,

Paul

Should work just fine, I've seen plenty of people do it before as they waited for their LCDs to arrive. The basic design I would suggest would just be a big X with the sides outlined (square with an X in the middle) and some text near the middle and some in each corner. That way you could see keystone, test focus, etc. I'm not sure if that will let you see bright spots or not though, if not you might try just printing out a fairly dark image of something and using that.
