Substitute For Germanium HG1012 ??

Hi,

I am trying to clone a 1970's amp which uses several HG1012 germanium diodes and I am struggling to find any or info about them.

I think I read somewhere that 1N34A's can be used as a substitute - does this sound right?

I will do but it might take me a little while as I need to etch the boards and source all the other bits, which thankfully seem available.
