Subs too big for bedroom

Hrm, it turns out I was just sitting at a null at those frequencies

Stuff 60Hz and above is loud close to the speakers and stuff below is loud far away from them

Actually, saying that, there's still a bit of a dip. Maybe stuffing will help the responce in these areas?

Another interesting thing I've noticed is that I can go impressively loud at 25Hz without a whole lot of cone movement, but at 20Hz the cone flaps all over the place! It's like the speaker is becoming 'unloaded' or something...

try using polyfill stuffing in the line to smooth out the response curve, .. i daresay you will be happier.

it seems like the flapping is due to unloading below the tuning frequency.

if you don't have easy access to raw polyfill, try using the fibrous stuffing from a pillow (usually polyfill or a derivative)

I found a deal on 1.5Kg of polyester stuffing for around �would that be enough? On www.wilmslow-audio.co.uk, 120g 🙂xeye🙂 of wool is �nd apparently is enough for 20 litres. Are wool and polyester stuffing around the same density?

No matter, both are good enough, and anyway better than nothing !

The point is mainly to place it correctly !

I’m too thinking about getting sub for my bedroom. I red somewhere what in small rooms bass is loading differently when in big rooms- you pressurizing room to get bass. You could plug the port to see if it going to help because room gain pretty big and turning sub to get flat respond below room gain frequencies should create bump.

The response variations in TL's with four folds are huge for an unstuffed pipe. You could have as high as a 20db peak at certain frequencies. YOu really need the stuffing but tuning could be a problem also.
