Hi ! i'm looking for some 8 pin subminiature sockets , those green or brown isolated with 2 mounting screws , and, why not with black IERC shields . Do you have some for sale : let me know ! Or for a swap with some NOS 5719 submin triodes 😉 Pierre
I have some sub miniature sockets. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance to see if you are interested. Do you have any 6111's that you would trade by any chance?
I don't know if these will work for you. They are kind of an odd-ball socket as you can see. With the shields, they mount on their side against the chassis. However, if you remove the shield/Backing, the socket can be installed on a chassis the conventional style. It uses a press fit washer on the socket bottom rather than screws.
I no longer use sockets with subminiatures. I use them with PCB designs and solder them direct to the board.
If your interested let me know.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I have a sleeve of 5, 6111WA JAN white box that I have no current use for...
I am interested, but broke. Is there anything your looking to trade for?
Hi Jeb , sorry , not these ( i still have some left too) : I 'm looking for the screw mounted ones , looking similar to noval 😉 Pierre

I have a cigar box of 6111's I got at an estate sale, What would they be good for?

They do good in pre-amp/line stage applications that use fairly low voltage. I use them in a cascode configuration for the front end of a phono pre-amp.
I'm building some tube mic prototypes and those sockets look
like they might be usable. I'd be interested in trading some 6111s
for some sockets. I'll be using 5840s and 5703s but the 6111 is not
as ideal for a condenser mic impedance converter.
Michael
PS yes, it's used in the new Neumann tube mics but as a cathode
follower along with a bunch of other junk...
Nice low noise resistance though and it would work for low impedance
low level circuits like phono stages.

no no : not miniature but SUBminiatureTekko said:The seven pin version of noval, like 6AK5 and 6AU6 ?
😉
.... do not have the same socket : 5840 circular 8 pin, and 5703 : in line 5 pin !Michael Koster said:5840s and 5703s
Right, the wires would need to be bent, but I could swap tubes
in and out relatively easily without soldering.
Cheers,
Michael

Michael,
It sounds like we can work a trade out. I also have some extra 6205, 6021 and 6112, if those are of any interest to you. All of which are excellent sounding.

For PC board use, an 8 pin sub mini tube can be persuaded into the 8 pin IC sockets that were used for the TO5 style OPAMPS that came in a round metal can. Digi key still stocks the sockets, but I don't have a number handy.
The tubes that have 5 or six leads in a row will fit in the machine pin strip sockets that Digikey has. You can also stuff two of them into a 16 pin IC socket. Use the "machined pin" style sockets made by Mill Max.

I scored some on eBay a couple of years ago, but am not ready to part with them. I did do a quick search today and found nothing listed under any description I could think of. They're out there, but I bet you won't find them here.
