Yeah, this is about subwoofers...

Okay... I impulse purchased the EQ a little while back when I was at Guitar Center buying some cables... I've now got a Crown XLS-602 and an XLS-402 in The Bunker.

When I actually looked at the manual (doh...), I figured out that the thing also has some other kewl stuff built in...

Like an adjustable highpass, and a subwoofer out with an 18db adjustable slope. Sooooo......

Last weekend, I finally bolted together a pair of mid-high Q sealed Quatro 15s that are now under my mains. They're about 1.75 cubes (about a 0.9 Q), and unstuffed at the moment. A little peaky, but they work very nicely with rock, explosions, gunshots, and were even passable with Norah Jones... I don't know if I'd go smaller, but if you're looking to throw together a "bulletproof" sub system, you may be able to melt one of these, but you're not going to overexcurse it.

The subwoofer out works as advertised, and the XLS-402's gain controls worked fine for matching levels (did it just by ear to my taste). Turned it down about 1/6 of the dial on both sides.

Only gnarsty part was dealing with XLR connections, but that's already been beat to death, and I just used Hosea's RCA to XLR cables anyway, because they're priced right at Guitar Center.

The XLS-602 is driving a pair of ported Quatro 15s, and is devoted pretty much just to LFE-type stuff. It's fed via a Behringer feedback destroyer.

The EQing _did_ make a difference with my mains too... I'm probably going to pick up another one or two of the EQs for the rest of the speaks...

Hey ,bogie..I got one of those too....but I kind of got lazy hen I had to do fine adjustments to it....

Do you have any pointers...or a setting I could use ? I mainly use it for a pair of tempests subs that are hooked up to the LFE channel for watcing movies.

What I finally ended up doing - flatted everythng out at the bottom, then boosted frequencies that seemed important according to the sheet, while neglecting the ones that were said to cause "tinniness" etc. - Then I slowly brought those up in groups of 2-3...
