Sub for Ripole design

I'm considering a Ripole design for use with my home stereo system (two mains with a single sub). So far most of the DIY info I've found is the Ripole sub built by Jazzman. In his design he uses a Peerless SLS 12" driver. The only part of the design I don't really care for is the magnet protruding out the sides of the cabinet. This got me to thinking of possibly using a low profile sub for the design. In particular the Infinity Reference REF1200S. This 12" sub has a Qts of .54, an Fs of 22.82Hz, an Xmax of 7.65mm, a sensitivity rating of 92dB and a top mounting depth of 3.25" The sub has the ability to be used @ 2Ω or 4Ω. I'm thinking of setting each sub to 2Ω and then connecting them in series for a 4Ω load. It would be driven by a bridged Crown XLS1002 power amp.

This driver would seem to be an ideal choice for this design. If any of you have any experience with a Ripole design I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have on my choice for a driver.

I built a pair... using Peerless 12 sls drivers....

see my posts on this. In this thread under Manolo47 and in Audio Circle under Manolo. search for Ripole. I built a pair using Peerless 12 sls woofers, one woofer per side only to have stereo “subwoofers” The xover is at 50 hz using the Pass xover kit. I run the main loudspeaker FR. Sometimes I use the Mini dsp digital xover to experiment, etc., but the analog xover sounds better. In top of that, the xover, I mean, I installed at the input a filter comprising of a cap and coil, in parallel. cap is 280 uf and coil is 1.5 mh, if I recall correctly. All construction was based on the article by the german gentleman who invented the thing. Also Jazzman in these pages and Audio Circle’s.
