ok i have access to some car audio stuff for the stores cost ...
i was thinking of useing a 12inch alpine type e or type s for a home sub application im thinking the type e more because it requires less power i think 400 rms i do have a few other brands to choose from but i love alpine so i thought id go with them if practical im also thinking small sealed box cuz i like clean tight bass. it will be used for music and movies any thoughts on any of this would be appreciated.

Since you think small = tight, you probably want a midbass hump. That's what you'll get, anyway, but you want a flat response as low as possible for greatest accuracy.
What kind of selection do they have?

Store cost doesn't necessarily mean good value for money. You need TS parameters to be able to model it, and xmax as well to be able to judge it for HT use. You should model those drivers and compare them to others available before buying.
Car drivers can be used but IMO they aren't likely to be the best choice for HT, and often not the best value either.
