Hello Stupid Student

I see.. If you don't mind me asking , whats wrong with the Response drivers??
The biggest difference will be in sound quality.
AUDAX will be superior in Good Sound, hifi.

Also AUDAX is more likely to live up to
the data in specifications, under most circumstances.
They can not afford to drag their Reputation in the dirt.

AUDAX is a World Famous Manufacturer
while not many know what either
Response or JayCar is.

Do not be so stubborn SkinnyBoy.
You have to trust us. 🙂 🙂

On the other hand, who can stop you from being
that Stupid Student 😕
If that's what you wanna be. :bawling: :bawling:

/halojoy - is neither student or stupid (mostly not)

1. How do you know?? as you said, no-one know Response brand.. 😛

2. Says who? Why couldn't Response also live up the the specs?

3. And? Just cos it isn't world famous doesn't mean it isn't good... 😛 I had never heard of Audax before just a few days ago.. 😛

4. I can be stuborn.. I think I will just get the Response speakers... Mainly because on the lower -3dB and the much higher power.. 🙂

5. NO ONE!!! 😀 😛 😕

Are you all ignoring me now.. 🙁 no fair... I only like the Re/sponse ones better cos they have:

better sensitivity,

higher power,

Low Vas (means that a small box can be used, without raising
the resonance),

8 ohms becasue I am planning on running the woofers off a bridged amplifier,

The lower -3dB vented enclosure Frequency,

So, why should I buy teh AUDAX drivers, apart from cos you know them well.. blah blah blah about being a good brand.. lol.. 😀 please don't take this the wrong way..

Skinny

CapsLock is usually viewed as shouting, and therefore rude...(it's also hard to read!😉 )

The reason why most people advised the Audax is that it is a known driver, with very good performance, and the excellent HDA cone material. Audax also have nothing to hide, note the amount of information they give with their drivers in comparison with the Response and Jaycar drivers. No, we can't stop you buying the Response drivers, and yes, you are right, they might sound brilliant. But with the sparsity of information given on them it would be difficult to help you troubleshoot them if you have any problems.

Have you seen any response and impedance curves for the other drivers? I am assuming you are not going to do your own measuring. You cannot compare like with like, let alone even start on crossover design, without these curves, ( Yes, manufacturer's ones are sometimes a little incorrect, but they are better than nothing).

So in conclusion, buy what you like, but be aware of the consequences of your decision.

Umm... do you think I actually know what I am doing?? lol.. AHH, now thats where you are wrong... (no, wait, what were you thinking?)

I know what I'll do.... I'll do whatever Rod Elliot did... he used one of these drivers for a subwoofer in a computer speaker system.. 🙂 (tell me what to do, please??)

What is there to design with a crossover?? lol, okay, now I am showing my stupidity.. 🙁

Skinny, for a rough idea of how difficult it is to do a crossover check this thread, (one amongst many).

Looking at that response graph, your speaker has a really nasty peak around 2k, and unless you want a really complex crossover, I suspect this is a driver for bass use only, in a 3 way system.
