Ok...I've got a stupid question for you. 😉 I recently got a 3pc speaker system for my computer...two satellites and a sub. I would really like to modify them to add an LED sound meter...I'm not sure what they're called, but a line of LEDs that light up according to the sound. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about...anyway...how would I go about doing that?
If you would like to add a visual output display, there are many options available! Even Radio Shack sells inexpensive bar-graph LED displays with dual inline packages.
First time I wanted such a toy, I had to build a series of A-D convertors on the breadboard, plus a set of display drivers. Today, just look up a kit like this:
