10% of people understand binary and 90% don't.
I’ve learned the CNC code at 16 without any computers and without any CNC, just with paper sheets and pencils, and a very exigeant professor because the CNC of that epoch weren’t equiped of any internal memory and watchdog (each error in the code was a provoking catastrophic destruction the 200000$ CNC)
Was able to enter with the keyboard a long program witout any paper sheet, draw a part by reading the code, debug a long faulty program on the machine under the production pressure and write the code directly on the IHM without any error by reading a drawing.
I’ve learn the binary code 4 years later…

Yes. There are 10 kinds of people, one that understands binary and the other that doesn't ;-)

Interestingly enough, there is also a Well's Law.
In "Wells's Law", a science fiction story should contain only a single extraordinary assumption.

I am fan and collector of SF and Fantasy.
I have 90% of all this literature.
My favorite is Jack Vance.
I share this with my elder son.
He lives in kangourou land and I am glad, he will visit me very soon after some 10 years so far away.
He is arriving, just in time for my cherry trees, that are top producers this year.

I share your passion! I read many of Jack Vance's books when younger and you've now made me realise how many of his books I've overlooked.I am fan and collector of SF and Fantasy. My favorite is Jack Vance.
I've recently begun to pass on some of my vintage SF/Fantasy collection to specialist bookshops so that others may have the opportunity to enjoy it. Hard to part with my core collection though!
I have so much vintage SF and Fantasy still to read, but so little time left to read it!

I'm happy to say that, although I flunked French at school, I am able to translate the first sentence in your link!Pour la première fois dans l'histoire de l'humanité, la Terre a reçu un message de détresse venant d'une autre planète!
I shall stick to my English versions of Adam Reith's adventures however!
I like these 8 albums very much.
It had little success, poor drawing they said, and coloring. They are not aware that Tschai has not light as on earth, with two suns, a blue one and a red one.
I was pleased, to see a good rendering of the atmosphere in JV books, not an easy task.

Did that include Philip José Farmer?(and 25,000 farmers who came to town).

IMHO Sturgeon's law does apply to the forum, and I think that is actually complimentary. Sure 90% is crap, just think about the posts where someone is deluding themselves about audible improvement, or the questions that could be answered with a trivial search. However, that means 10% is good, and that is quite something in a mature field that is far from the cutting edge of technology for multiple reasons.
I've always loved sci fi, but I can't come up with a catchy memory or reason or anything. I've always loved it, especially the corny Star Trek type stuff.

Philip José Farmer?
I certainly read alot of his stuff, starting when i was quite young.
Sounds like he is well worth reading.
