helo everyone,
I have been around for a while, reading and reading and reading,, till now
I can arrange all parts here locally (I am from India Mumbai) i can even get the PCB done not a problem.
My electronic knowledge is also good enough for this project.
I wanna build a 5.1 system using this amp design.
What i wanna know is how should i power it ?
How many secondary winding should be there for the transformer so it can power six of these little beast.
I have got a transformer which gives me +/- 45 at 5amps will this single line be enough to power all six cuircuts.?
Or am i missing somthing..?
Any help on the power issue shall be nice
Thanx
Mastero

I can only salute to your intention to do that, but I believe it might be an overkill to make entire 5.1 system by using only Studio amp modules (if I understand your plan properly?!). That transformer is certainly not sufficient for all of that. It will supply more than nicely one stereo Studio amp to a full specs, but six modules... no way! Yes, you can, for example, run Studio for satellites on 5 or 10W, but it is like buying a racing car and then never drives it more than 50km/h for the rest of your life!

Hello everybody!
I am writing this to contribute and inform DIY community about another
design by Dr. Bora Jagodic. I found that thread on the best Croatian
Audiofil.net DIY forum two days ago, and I thought it is worth sharing it
with wider audio community. It is about his power amplifier design named
"Techno" that has been built and tested by well known and respectable
Croatian audiophile and DIY enthusiast "Dioklecijan" that he published on
Croatian Audiofil.net forum. My old friend from school, which speak English
better than me, helped me to make this translation of his posts:
"This days I've finished amplifier Techno with output stage done according
to schematics from Borivoje Jagodic. You can find that schematic on his
site: http://bas.elitesecurity.org/mojiprojekti1.html . Preamplifier stage
is my own idea with SMD OPAMP-s TLE2071.
Here are some photographs of progress of that project:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/dioklecijan/IMG_0877_1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/dioklecijan/amp1.jpg
Here is how it looks today:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/dioklecijan/IMG_1080_1.jpg
and here is how it will look when I finally close the case-enclosure:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/dioklecijan/IMG_1077_1.jpg
Some technical aspects:
Output transistors are ONSEMI 2SA1302/2SC3281 (thanks to "Pinco"), and the
rest is all according to schematic. Because those transistors have high GBW
it is necessary to put capacitor of between 150-330pF in parallel to
existing 10k resistor at the input of amp. Otherwise it might oscillate!
Everything else should be done by schematic.
Mains transformers were 29V/200VA per channel + separate transformer for
preamp.
Amplifier posses power in abundance. Control is immaculate, and in my tests
it was working with Focal Electra 1028, and with Electra 905, Diapason
Micra and JBL CM42. Amp is biased at 90mA and if anyone is going to build it
I suggest bigger heatsinks than mine.
Sound of this amplifier is very pleasant for listening, with extraordinary
dynamic and excellent detaileness. As audiophiles would say "it sound
musically". Under 10.000 kuna (Croatian national currency, about
??kuna=1Euro) in the shop you won't find better amp. This is valid if amp is
done properly and with high quality components!"

Here is the preamplifier. It consist of input buffer and second stage with
6dB gain, which is very low but amp itself has high gain so together it is
enough. I also predict a variable output for connection of subwoofer or
alike and that stage has slightly higher gain of around 9dB. Supply is
standard with LM317/337 but maybe one day it will be replaced with some
superregulator version.
Answer to Boban's question:
With regards to a character of the sound, I will put Techno somewhere
between Audio Analogue Puccini SE and Rotel 1070, and I'll say it took
musicality from Puccini and detailness from Rotel, but overall impression is
that it is better than both those amplifiers!
Of course, it slightly lacks that specific transparency that PassAleph5
posses (but anyway that is a specific virtue of Pass masterpieces).
For real assessment, I believe, it will take more than this 10 days that I
spent with sound of Techno amplifier."

Re: !
10.000 Kuna
1 Euro~ 7,2 Kuna
so ~1388 Euro
bloody much
I'll have two Alephs for that money

Above doesn't mean that Dioklecijan spent 10.000 kuna on that amp, as i personally know him, I belive he spent half of that amount, more or less.

In the shop for that price, not DIY,
In DIY you can for cca, 250E build that amp with dual mono PSU, H3 rack metal box, and quality parts, without preamp, and if you have some parts at home from preavius projects....

agree with you and Aparatusonitus.....
in fact-my post wasn't clear ,exactly as #46 post - I meant that I believe that real expenses must be several times lower, knowing few things about "domestic" DIY-ers .......
regarding resulted sound in class of at least 10.000 kuna, that is already rule ,what you get when you do it right.....in fact- that 's easy ,looking at what garbage ppl are used to sell and buy under fifi or fi-end label
EDIT:
in #46 post
seems that I totaly slipped that sentence.......after few sleepless nigts maybe it is normal
hehe......

hi! thanks bora for your sharing your designs. does aanyone want to share the pcb of techno and pre-studio?. thanks
Re: Techno amplifier PCB
The TECHNO schematic is here:
http://www.bas.plumts.com/technosema.pdf
About PCB I don't know.
But maybe if you register as user at boraomega website.
don't think it cost nothing.

ENGLISH SPEAKING VISITORS CLICK HERE.
For some of the designes you won't be able to find PCB's on this site.
You might be able to get them if you register,
but THAT DOESN'T NECCESSARILY MEAN
that everyone that registers is sure to get what he's asking for!!!
That all depends on my own judgement, and might deffer from case to case.

Is this CCT contains EC? http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=1071301&stamp=1165127461
Look at the upper output stage. BD139 is forming left side differential. BD140 is forming right side differential (somekind of diode, because its C and B is connected by 10ohm). The CCS for these 2 transistors is 6K8. The BD139 is comparing its base (input) to it's emitor (output).

Lumanauw, how do you define EC?
If you define it as being local NFB around the output devices then it certainly is. But it doesn't use a PFB loop like the Hawksford-style implemenations.
Personally, I'm not sure what the term "error correction" is meant to mean.

There are 2 threads, both talked about how good sounding this amp is, but none talked about what's making it perform like that. There are quite a few threads already about this particular design and its issues if one cares to do a bit of searching.
The front ends are ordinary, could it the output stage that makes it sounds good?
