Streamer / Pre-amp Analogue Unbalanced Output Inductor to Ground?? Fault Hum / Buzz

Hi 🙂

Wondering if anyone may have an idea what burnt out and what I may need to solder in place, yes I am a beginner and don't understand much but always ready to have a go to learn :-o

I posted on a different forum, for advice for the fault as the item is quite old and has quite a narrow / specific use, compared to modern things these days.... but I seem to have found the fault with help! and I now assume it is back in the general analogue output area of tech knowledge...??

Any thoughts much appreciated! 🙂

It looks like that network player has balanced outputs on XLR and single-ended on RCA - you say nothing about the details of how you connected things up - details will matter. Sounds like a missing ground connection somehow, so mains pickup will give you full volume hum.

Thanks for your reply, yes XLR outs are fine its the unbalanced left and right rca's that have the Full Volume hummm!! Yes your right! full volume :-o Details are all in the above linked thread, details may have been a little slow arriving in the thread, as I was not sure what I was doing.

However, so far I have found with help, that linking the rca ground outputs to ground, via a SM inductor is what is supposed to happen, but one inductor is missing and the other has exploded, hence no ground and the full volume humm. So I am now trying to find out what value the inductor should be........ So far not finding much, only that in some circuits an inductor may be less than 0.5uH to keep the amp stable, or stop oscillation, I am not even sure if this value is somewhere else in the circuit :-o
