Hi everyone
I have a strange problem with one Quad 63 speaker. First I had a high pitched whine, then after checking the offending speaker I noticed a ticking sound which near the top right part of the speaker which has not gone away and is only audible at about 1 meter. Next I moved the speaker forwards by the base and I could hear a rattlinng sound coming from the top right part of the speaker like something was detached. Everytime I move it the rattling sound is there
The sound of the speaker seems to be as normal and the neon discharge lamp seems to indicate normal discharge
Can anyone offer any insight into this situation?

Sounds like you have a panel with either a split diaphragm or a de-laminating stator. The rustling or rattling sound is a dust cover that is loose.
