To update the problem with the "clone" modules, number of tree of the module looks like it is working.
I have not have any complains, yet !! (1,5 year) 😍
So the might not be that bad after all !!??
And it is nice to be able to service old but good MI stuff.

Manufacturers are using IMST technology to produce these ICs. From the manufacturing point of view, the internals of the IC might not look the same as the ICs that were produced decades ago. However, I haven't experienced any issues with these OEM-compatible ICs.

I have just received a couple of STK442-130 modules from an eBay seller located in the US. The chips have a 4D71 code on them. This code is the same I see on pictures from eBay sellers located in China, which makes me wonder if these chips are fake.
Any advise from the experts?

You don't need to break or cut the plastic cover. Insert a flat screwdriver between the metal back cover and turn it. The plastic cover will be opened without breaking. Then we can understand that it is original, it is difficult to understand without seeing the inside.
