Has anyone ever used a STK4162 to build an amp?
I have a few I found in with a shed load of componants I got hold of. I have checked out the data sheet and its a 2 x 35 watt stereo chip.
If anyone has used one, any tips or pointers on building the amp would be nice.

Replaced more of these than I care to remember in the course of the day job...
If you have a few them, then by all means experiment. The data sheet will show the typical application circuit. Don't run it at absolute max voltage, derate it a little and use a good heatsink. And don't try driving difficult loads at high outputs 🙂 such as speakers that dip down to 3 ohms for example.
You'll never produce a world beating amp from these but they are pretty decent if used correctly. Just depends what your expectations are.

Thanks mate... I got them from a TV repair shop that has closed down so I presume they are made for some sort of TV.. I'm just trying to learn on the cheap as im still bloody unemployed and got no cash. I would be happy if sound comes out of finished item no matter how good or bad. At least I know if im reading the schematics right if it works.
Got loads of IC's I gotta run through and see what they are. Found a few TV signal types that i dont think will be any good to me, but finding a few amps too.

STK's were used in most 1990's midi hifi's from Aiwa, Sony, Akai etc.
There great to experiment with... have fun.
