Stiff and absorbing material

Stiff: not easily bent or changed in shape; rigid.
Not a good description of a flexible structure...
If it is indeed built to fairly stiff then its resonant frequency will consequently be quite high and of little interest to audio isolation and absorption, which is generally required to be at lower frequencies and where damping is less effective. I see this as simply a novel type of spring, and springs as we all know store energy...

Absent more details, could it be the opposite case? Stiff/reflective to high frequencies, and deformable to low frequencies---not necessarily through resonance?

Buckled spring doesn't shout resonating to me. (I am writing this on a buckling spring keyboard)
