I have a pair of Seas 10 F-M from 1977 to reuse in a project. The cones appear to be factory coated and are sticky. Has the coating failed and are these toast? Or just use as is? Why were the cone's coated anyway? Have a pair of Marantz that also have sticky mid's.
If the surrounds are ok, give them a shot. Several modern driver cones like Scanspeak Revelators are tacky.
Measure fr response and distortion, compare to the seas datasheet. If it performs well, who cares how it feels. You are not supposed to touch the cone with your fatty fingers anyway.I have a pair of Seas 10 F-M from 1977 to reuse in a project. The cones appear to be factory coated and are sticky.
