When using a single transformer to power a two-channel (stereo) gainclone amp, is it best to parallel the transformer secondary leads to two bridge rectifiers powering each channel, or to use a single bridge rectifer and parallel the two OpAmp circuits to the DC rails of a single bridge rectifier?
I think a separate bridge for each channel would be better. I'm planning to use a single 400VA tranny with separate bridges for each channel, built from MSR860 soft recovery diodes.
It works fine. I use a single 500 VA to power 4 gainclones. Albeit two of them are tweeter amps, so they dont ever really put out more than a watt or two. I also use a single set of diode bridges.

shaz I have gone both routes with success although separate diode bridges are a preferable design separate capacitor filtering is a must either way

It's definitely advisable to use separate bridge for ea.rail, I don't know how much improvement you get when you separate them additionaly between channels.
I also tried those MSR860 diodes and initially I thought thay were better, but later I found they are too bright and I'm using MUR860 only. Of course it is dependant on the rest of a setup and it may be actually preferrable in some. For instance I found that with Kimber umbilical cord those MSR diodes were pretty much acceptable, but when I switched to Cardas cord they became too bright.
I have whole bunch of the MSR diodes available, so if anyone's interested, I can sell them.
