Hi, I was hoping if some one could tell me if I am on the right track. I want to build a 12V battery operated power supply for the TA2022 (Fenice 100 specifically). I want to use the LM2577 Step-up Voltage Regulator set for 31V and delivering about 1.6A. I want to use 2 LM2577s, hooked together, to give me the +31V/0V/-31V to run the amp. I calculate the max current I can get from the supplies is 1.6A. My questions are:
1) Is 1.6A enough to get the full 200W out of this amp, or am I really only looking at 1.6A * 31V * 93%(amp eff) = 47W?
2) Can I hook the (+) of one regulator to the (-) of the other in order to get the Pgnd needed?

1.6A will be enough for normal music signals played below clipping level.
Also, consider a transformer-coupled push-pull converter as the ones used in car amplifiers, fed from the batteries either connected in series or parallel.
However, note that non-bridged class D amplifiers also return current to the supply rails, and you have to find a way in which your PSU could handle that.

Thanks for the reply Eva. I built the pair of PS and hooked them together as planned and no smoke. I am going to have a friend at work help me check the regulation. I have the option to run the supplys off 12V instead of 24V (as in my original post), which would give me the +31V/0/-31V but only at 0.8A.
Can I still get the full 2x100W at this amperage?
Is the current usage info on the spec sheet?
