I agree. This is old hat. It is known as a modulated current source for instance, or active current source load, etc. Pass has used it for decades.
It seems you can patent anything these days.

It's essentially a negative resistance circuit.
By the way, in the Netherlands you can indeed patent anything; as far as I know, checking the novelty of the invention is not required anymore for Dutch patents that last at most six years.

Tubecad offers some nice explanation here:And you can debate if this is still a SE amp. That driven current source really makes it a push-pull amp. The difference being that the top stage is driven by the output voltage instead of the usual phase inverter.
