I have a pair of Stax SR-X Mark 3 headphones.
I'm not having any luck finding replacement muffs.
Last pair were cheap generics that fell apart after a month.
Years ago I found one set on fleabay in Japan, but they were never sent and they never replied.
So, where can I get a decent set ?

Try head-fi.org it has threads on your Stax SR-X-MK111, I think eBay has them.

The first rule of buying anything that is a bit like a "luxury" product, is that if you paid a premium price for the original product, then expect to also pay a premium for everything that comes after (accessories, service etc.) as well 😎"Only" $65 delivered... that's pretty ridiculous for a set of muffs.
I'm lucky to have been able get a pair of Stax Lambda Basics from EBay a while ago, nothing compares to them, and I have loved headphones for a long time and had many pairs. BUT- the construction, such as hollow plastic brackets which broke and have been glued and reinforced with epoxy resin, the frames holding the membranes which are glued on and creep over time. I have prepared some new 'ear cup holders' in aluminium strip for when they break next time. I see that Stax will provide a very nice aluminium headband assembly for $220. The pads - I dismantled a pair and made a pattern so I can have a go at making my own from some small pieces of leather, I just need to learn how to use a sewing machine now!
