Short version: Is it worth upgrading from a srm-313 amplifier?
So basically I am wondering how much difference will the choice of amplifier have on the audio quality of the 007mk stax headphones?
The online consensus seems to be that anything made by stax is inadequate and using very expensive custom amps will transform the sound (often with emphasis on bass ive noticed).
Personally I drive mine using a srm-313 unit (normal+pro version) and I've never felt thay I need more power.

I doubt that STAX doesn't know what amp their headphones need fost a LONGER experience...and electrostatics lack of base is not a secret...
I don't know if i would say that estats lack bass but that might just be my preference. I admittedly have not listened to many phones but I think I can say that stax has the best bass that I've heard so far....and electrostatics lack of base is not a secret...
Thats why i don't understand what everything about the third party amps is about. Does the extra power really make them sound that much better? Does it only make them play louder? Do they apply eq to "enhance" bass?
