Hi all,
I’m looking for recommendation for a standalone speaker protection design for use with different amplifier PCBs.
My idea, which may be a bit confused, is that I want to build different designs of amplifier to be used with a “universal” power supply I have built.
In order to audition these amplifier designs properly, I obviously need to connect them to nice speakers and I really, really don’t want to blow up those nice speakers for the sake of experiment:
I don’t mind destroying any amount of DIY electronics, as might be the case with a crowbar circuit, or having to replace a relay because an arc destroys the contacts, or that sort of thing; I just don’t want to smoke the speakers.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

A basic DC protection module would be a good start.
Loads on ebay.
After that you could consider over current protect too but that really protects amp more than speakers.

My thoughts followed a similar path, and I designed this:In order to audition these amplifier designs properly, I obviously need to connect them to nice speakers and I really, really don’t want to blow up those nice speakers for the sake of experiment:

A.S.P. - Version 2.0
It has been electrically tested, but not implanted yet into the target speakers, due to various delays (and procrastination, of course)
Thank you chaps, I’ll look into the options.
I wasn’t too sure about the eBay kits from a brief google search, I’ll have a closer look and post anything I think might up to the job.
I like your idea Elvee, I’ll have a go at laying a single sided pcb out.
