Hi there, thanks for reading.
I've got a "new" unused Stancor A-8053 Output Transformer that came with a lot of items from when a friend passed away. I think he may have intended it for replacing the OT in rebuilding a Dynaco MKIV, but I don't know for sure.
Have any of you seen/heard these transformers in use? How would you describe their characteristics or quality? I have the Dynaco, which is empty save for iron. My range of interest for amp building is wide, so any info you could give in helping me use this for the best application is appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff

The Stancor A-8053 specs
I have the specs on the 8053 as follows...
Push pull with the primary 5k ohm plate to plate load res at 150ma
Secondary has taps for 8 and 16 ohms
50 max audio
It could be used many ways...
Push pull 6550 or kt88
PP 6L6
PPP 6v6
PPP EL84
PP 300B
PP 2A3
PP 6a3
The list could go on and on with various conbinations, they are nice..
I hope this helps, BTW google bunker of doom transformers for the stancor 1961 pdf and it will be listed on page 13a.
If you don't like them just let me know ... They should be a good starting point for a very nice amp build.
Have a great day,
Michael

Hey Jeff,
It's all good, PPP is push pull parallel meaning two tubes on each side of the primary windings.
In order for it to work with 2.5k per side (5k plate to plate) on the transformer primary, use two tubes on each side that have a load resistance of 5k because when paralleled it halves their virtual load resistance to 2.5k.
Also take into account the max ma of anode disapation for the four tubes combined for the transformer rating of 150ma.
I hope this helps, I tried to explain best I could been at this just about 6yrs.
Have a great day
Michael
ps. If you need more help don't hesitate, but I am not an expert by far here just proficient.

Thank's Tony,
I forgot to mention that he could halve the impedence that way.
That could bring the Load resistance down to 1.25k per side effective way to run push-pull parallel of other combinations as long as the 150ma rating of the OPT is observed.
any way just my 2 cents.
