The tip41/tip42 data sheet shows a massive difference in hFE, yet they are supposed to be a complentary pair, is this correct?

It's not unusual to see even gross beta differences between NPN and PNP. They are more similar at large currents - both between 20 and 30 at 5A.
Thanks wg-ski, I see that now re-examining the curves the big differences are only at lower collector currents where you wouldn't normally operate a power transistor.
